Family history says the Ernst Schwarze swam in the Weser as a youth.

No one in the family knew where Ernst was actually born.

There are many associations between the Brockmanns and the Schwarzes.  I believe the relationships go back to Germany and possibly Hehlen.

There are more specific references to Hehlen an der Weser with the Brockmann Family.

  • Carl Heinrich Christophe Ludwig Brockmann (August 1832 -1904.) born at Hehlen an der Weser, Brunswick, Lower Saxony.
  • 19 Jun 1854 in New York, New York, USA
  • Christoph Ernst Julius Brockmann (born 1797 Zülow, Ludwigslust, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany; died August 1871 Hehlen, Holzminden, Lower Saxony, Germany)
  • Four other children born in Hehlen (Heinrich 1824 Carl 1826, Andreas 1828 and Freidrich 1829)  All migrated and died in the US.
