Notes - Andy Faulkner was born May 8, 1884, Evant, Bastrop County, Texas. In 1910 the Faulkner family moved to Blackriver west of Carlsbad, NM. At Blackriver he met Agnes Elizabeth Huffman. They were married in 1910. Soon after Andy marriage, the Faulkner family moved to Sierra County. His parents settled in Chloride. Andy and his wife took the family herd of cattle to Taylor Creek, southeast of Beaverhead. Because of locoweed in the Taylor Creek area the herd was moved to Poverty Springs, west of Fairview (Winston.)
A daughter, Norene, was born in 1912. Early in 1916, Andy moved to Las Palomas Creek, later to a place south of Las Palomas.
In the summer of 1927, Andy sold all of his and his parents cattle. From 1927 until 1938, Sandy and his wife had a small dairy. In 1937, the move and land were sold. The dairy was moved to Butte City near Cuchillo bridge. About 1938, the dairy cows were sold and Andy bought a gas station at Cuchillo Bridge which he operated until his death in 1961.
Andy Faulkner was a deacon in the First Baptist church of TorC, a very active church member. His special interest was junior age boys.
Andy has a grandson, Embree (Sonny) Hale, Jr. And a great granddaughter, Roberta (Bobbie) that he didn'tt live to see. His wife Agnes is celebrating her 90th birthday October 19, 1978. His father, Neal Faulkner, died before he was ten. His stepfather and uncle, Robert Copeland Faulkner, died in 1928, his mother Elizabeth (Lizzie) died in 1946.
Their daughter, Norene, taught school twelve years in Sierra County. Then in 1948 moved to Sunshine School in Luna County, where she taught for 30 years, retiring in 1978.
Andy had two full brothers, Emmitt and Monroe and a half-brother, Ira. The Faulkner family brands were A-Y, IRA, 7F, 7UP and ?T+. The 7F brand now belongs to Iras son, Emmitt and the IRA to his grandson Butch Bullock. Monroe Faulkner's brand is ###.
On a bill of sale dated May 4th, 1910, Andy Faulkner sold 84 head of cattle for the amount of $1260.00 to Paul Gray and RC Lucas. It states "My entire stock of cattle now ranging in Eddy County, New Mexico in the following brands L-W and marked thus (infinity sign) consisting of about eightly four head.
