    • 3/12/2007 According to their daughter Genevieve, Agnes was to marry Leonard Burton ( Genevieve's godfather) Bands of marrage were announced at church and Frank's father came home and told him about it and said if Frank was really interested in marrying Agnes he should go down to the church and speak up. Not sure what happened after that but Agnes married Frank not Leonard Burton.

  • Notes
    • Frank's name in Italian is Alidor

Pennsylvania 1910 Miracode Index shows Alidor Henry as age 5 and living in Cambria County, PA with his mother Susanna and father Celento.

1920 US Census shows Frank living at the home of his father and he was 16 years old. Also living there was his Uncle Victor, sisters Julia and Mary and Agnes Schrader as the cook.

When Frank and Agnes married they move to Mineral Point, PA to set up housekeeping and Frank worked at the Black Diamond Mine. That is where Genevieve was born. They later moved to South Fork, PA to "Sunshine" near Agnes' family. Frank was laid off at the coal mine and could not pay the rent so they moved back to Celestine Henry's house in West Point, PA. ( told by Julia Henry Gladfelter)

The 1930 US Census shows Frank as owning his home which was the house his father built. It's value was $4,000. They had a radio and it was not a farm. He was employed as a miner and he was not a veteran. He was 16 years old when he got married. It list's Frank's parents as being French.

The 1920 US Census lists Pennsylvania as Frank's birthplace although family records say he was born in Buffalo, NY. The 1930 Census lists his birth place at New York.

According to family members, Frank was almost drafted into WWII at the same time his sons enlisted in the Navy about 1943. According to his sister Julia, they needed to draft the older men because so many of the younger men got killed.

Son, Charles told a story about the illness and death of his father. Charles said his father died of Mastic Colon Cancer that destroyed his Vena Cava.

I remember being a little girl and visiting my grandparents. They had ducks and the ducklings had hatched. They were so cute. I went down and picked one of them up to play with it and the mother duck started chasing me and pecking at me. Grandpa came running and was yelling "Put it down, put it down" . As soon as I put the little duckling down the mother calmed down and took it with her. They had a cow and a big ramp extending over the hillside they used to drive the cars up on in order to work on their underside.

After we moved away we would sometimes stay at my grandparents house when we visited. One of the upstairs bedrooms had a rounded china cabinet and it was full of stuffed dead animals. All different kinds. I remember trying to sleep in that room with all those animals watching me. Next to the china cabinet was a door that opened into the stairway to the attic. There was a second door that opened into the bathroom. We weren't allowed to go into the attic. One holiday when everyone was visiting a few of us cousins went up to investigate the attic. It was scary up there. I guess we were too quiet because someone came looking for us and we got into trouble for going into the attic.

On holidays when everyone was at the house we children sat on the steps going upstairs to eat our meals. There were so many of us we filled the entire staircase. If someone needed to go upstairs we all had to shift positions to let others past.
